(e) share with lenders and dealers offering specialist finance to enable them to undertake analysis of your credit information, contact you by telephone, email, text (SMS) or other electronic means in relation to your application, validate if you are an existing customer (which may affect whether you can be accepted for one of their products) or for fraud prevention purposes

(g) ensure that content from our website is presented in the most effective manner for you and your device;
(h) aggregate it on an anonymous basis with other data for data analytical and reporting purposes; and
(i) identify and inform you of credit products that we consider are likely to be of interest to you or be suited to your credit circumstances.

Who your data can be disclosed to

We may share your information with selected third parties including:

(a) Finance Lenders and Dealers offering specialist finance within our panel and specialist lenders including Go Car Credit (Privacy policy – Gocarcredit.co.uk) and Moneybarn (Privacy policy – Moneybarn.com) for analysis of your credit information (and any other data provided by you or on your behalf) to identify and inform you of finance products that are likely to be suited to your credit circumstances.
(b) Analytics and search engine providers that assist us in the improvement and optimisation of our website.

To process your application, the finance lenders and specialist finance providers will perform credit and identity checks on you with one or more credit reference agencies (“CRAs”).

To do this, the personal information that you have supplied will be sent via the finance lender or specialist finance provider, to credit reference agencies (CRAs) who will provide back to that provider, personal information about you. This will include information about your financial situation and financial history. CRAs will supply both public (including the electoral register) and shared credit, financial situation and financial history information and fraud prevention information.

This information will be used to:
(a) Assess your creditworthiness and whether you can afford to take the product
(b) Verify the accuracy of the data you have provided to us
(c) Prevent criminal activity, fraud and money laundering
(d) Ensure any offers provided to you are appropriate to your circumstances.

When CRAs receive a search enquiry, they will place a search footprint on your credit file that will not be seen by other lenders, until a contract is entered into with that lender / finance provider.

We have processes and systems that protect our customers and ourselves against fraud and other crime. Customer information can be used to prevent crime and trace those responsible. We will share your personal information with fraud prevention agencies, if false or inaccurate information is provided and fraud is identified.

For example, if you provide us with data that is classed as a special category of data such as health information, criminal records of convictions and offences, or allegations of criminal offences. We will only process this with your permission (unless we feel the processing is necessary to protect your vital interests or if the law allows us to do so). You have a right at any time to ask us to stop the processing of that specific data.

Direct marketing

We will only use your personal information to administer your finance application and to provide you with details of products relating to this application. We will contact you using the details that you have provided, to update you on the progress of your application by phone, email and SMS.

We will not share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.

Where we store your data

All information you provide to us is stored on encrypted systems to ensure data security.

Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we will do our best to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted to our website; any transmission is at your own risk. Once we have received your information, we will use strict procedures and security features to try to prevent unauthorised access, loss or damage.

How long we keep your information for

How long we keep your information will depend on the purpose for which we use it. We will only retain your information for as long as is necessary for those purposes.
